Dermatologist?...again?

about a year ago i went to a dermatologist for help with my acne and her prescribed me retin-a, some pills and some benzoyl peroxide gel. I stuck with the routine of the products and at first the retin-a totally burned my skin, so i stopped using that, and then my acne cleared up fo a couple weeks and it came right back! thats when i gave up on it and started using OXY clinical, which also worked for a couple weeks and my acne came back again! my mom talked to my dermatologist and he wants me to go back and said hes going to give me accutane at my next appointment. So will accutane work or just be like the other products and only work for a couple weeks? HELP
