What makes Oxy clensing pads turn purple?

I use Oxy clensing pads and my past pads have been white. I opened a new package and they were a light purple but I didn't think much of it. A week later and they are dark purple with areas that are almost black and dark liquid drips and smears onto my fingers when I'm using them. Now I'm worried its some kind of mold... did this happen to anyone else? What causes it?
